This is not a bad thing.
These days it's all very heavy with the news about the global contraction and what is happening in the world economy. Only today I heard the news that 75% of all businesses in Iceland were bankrupt! What a shocker!
It would appear that our global economy isn't as robust as we thought it was. Its all changing very rapidly. The institutions we thought were stable are no longer stable. Our planet is warming up fast and resources are starting to run out.
When society has systematic breakdown it's important that the system be changed to ensure that the broken elements are removed.
Like the emperor who was wearing no clothes there are some very obvious failings in our current system. I would like to suggest three to get the ball rolling.
We spend far too much money on weapons.
We don't link our economy with our ecology
We don't love enough -- ourselves and other people
If our society was to concentrate on these three points and devise how we might advance their cause, there would be plenty for us to do.
On our current course we are sailing uncharted water and if the system is collapsing then we better start thinking about what we want to put in its place.
